Introducing the Donkey
Simpson's Donkey is the 6.8 metre boat that Grant 'Axe' Rawlinson is rowing from Australia to New Zealand at the moment for his Rowing from Home to Home expedition (which Henna Gaijin is following and filming every step of the way).
This is Grant's home while he's on the water, and is named after a donkey used by a medic in the First World War – As Grant explains: "It was a small animal that was a lifeline to wounded soldiers, carrying them to safety, just like it will be my lifeline while I'm hundreds of miles from shore in very dangerous waters, so I thought it was a really apt name."
